LPN received probation in Hydrocodone case

A former assisted living center employee will serve 18 months probation in a Dawson County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the taking Hydrocodone pills meant for a patient. Katie O’Keefe of Gothenburg recently pled no contest to three misdemeanor charges of Attempted Possession of a Controlled Substance by Fraud. Twelve felony charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance was dismissed. Her sentence was handed down Monday in Dawson County District Court. The 37-year-old woman was formerly employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Golden Living Center in Cozad. A Dawson County Sheriff’s Office affidavit indicated that on 15 occasions in August 2015 she withdrew Hydrocodone pills meant for a patient. Some of them were administered to the patient, many of them weren’t, according to the information.
