Construction of the new Scottsbluff high school continues at a rapid pace as they work to get the new classroom wing and related areas ready by the first part of January.
Scottsbluff school district facilities director Randy Scott says while Hausmann Construction out of Lincoln is the main contractor, 75% of the sub-contractors are from the local area. Scott says that means as many as 100 people, sometimes even as many as 120, are at the school working on various parts of the project.
Scott says the gymnasium and all the locker rooms should be ready by the end of this month. Then the emphasis will be to get the new classroom areas complete and ready including furniture moved in by January 16th when students come back from Christmas break. The new commons area, cafeteria and administrative offices will also be open then as well.
