A nine year old boy from Colorado has been transferred to a Denver medical facility after suffering “significant injuries” in a boating accident at Lake Minatare this afternoon. Game and Parks Conservation officer Scott Brandt says more information is expected to be released later this evening.
Shortly after 1 p.m. emergency responders were dispatched to Lake Minatare. The Nebraska State Patrol advised at that time the boy was on a paddle boat behind the family’s boat near the shore. He reportedly got too close to the boat when the injury occurred.
The youth was flown by Air Link to Regional West Medical center for the initial treatment before being “Life-Flighted” to Denver.
The Nebraska Game & Parks Commission is in charge of the investigation, and KNEB will have further details as they become available.
