Just after 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday night the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was involved in a high speed vehicle pursuit when a pickup refused to stop when it was clocked speeding on 844th Road near Woodland Park.
The pursuit lasted for about 16 miles on county roads and ended about seven miles north of Pilger in Wayne County when the pickup crashed into a ditch attempting to make a turn.
Cody Schnebel, 27, of rural Hoskins was taken into custody at the scene and faces numerous charges including Driving While Intoxicated 3rd offense, Driving During Revocation, Speeding, Willful Reckless Driving, Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest and Open Container of Alcohol Violation. He was treated at the scene and medically cleared by Pilger Rescue.
Schnebel is currently being held in the county jail pending the posting of bond. A loaded firearm was recovered in his vehicle at the time of his arrest.
