Search efforts continue for  23-year-old Richard Mitchell of Minatare,  who remains missing after falling into the Flathead River in northwestern Montana last week.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell says rescue crews have been using a specialized dog, as well as an underwater camera in hopes of finding Mitchell. He says unfortunately, the river has been running very high and has “hampered” the search.

Mitchell, along with Marissa Scott and Nathaniel Garcia of Gering, had  crossed guard rails and passed warning signs at a scenic overlook. Sheriff Bell says they worked their way down the cliff face to the east side of the scenic lookout, and that is when Mitchell fell into the river and into the swift currents.

Officers from Lake County and Tribal Fish and Game have assisted in the search, which included two Bear air helicopter flying the river several times  in attempt to locate Mitchell.
