(Audio) Heavy Rains Result In Flood Warnings Affecting Cuming County

Cuming County was pounded by severe weather Thursday including a tornado warning and heavy rain that has resulted in the National Weather Service issuing a flood warning for the Elkhorn River at West Point, affecting Cuming County. The warning will remain until Saturday morning unless otherwise canceled before then. 

At 10 p.m. Thursday, the stage was 7.1 feet, or 4.9 feet below flood stage. Minor flooding is forecast. Flooding of agricultural areas is well underway. 

It also includes the Elkhorn River at Winslow, affecting Dodge County and Maple Creek near Nickerson affecting Dodge County. 

Do not drive cars through areas where water covers the road.  The water depth may be too great to allow your vehicle to pass safely.
Turn around...don`t drown!

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Elkhorn River At West Point.
* from this morning to Saturday afternoon...or until the warning is
  cancelled.
* At  4:15 AM Friday the stage was 9.5 feet...or 2.5 feet below flood
  stage.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue
  to rise to near 12.7 feet by this afternoon. The river will fall
  below flood stage by this evening.
* Impact...at 12.0 feet...Significant lowland flooding of agricultural
  areas is well underway.
