LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement in observance of Thanksgiving Day, which will be celebrated on November 24, 2016:
“Thanksgiving is a wonderful time for Nebraskans to join with their family and loved ones to reflect on the many blessings we have received throughout the year. With the high tensions that can come with an election year, now is a time to focus on and be thankful for the many positives that we have in our lives.
“Susanne, the kids, and I wish everyone a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving holiday. If you happen to be traveling this holiday weekend, please be cautious of potential hazardous weather conditions and make sure to buckle up.
“As Nebraskans, we are blessed to live in the best place in the world. So please join me in giving thanks to our law enforcement and first responders who work tirelessly to ensure safety for Nebraskans across our great state. During this holiday weekend, please also keep in mind our veterans, current servicemen and women, and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom.”
The First Family plans to spend Thanksgiving in Nebraska City with family.
