The Gering city council Monday evening unanimously approved signing an interlocal agreement with the City of Scottsbluff for the sharing of an Industrial Park.
Gering Mayor Tony Kaufman says while this is just a first step and no site has been chosen, having one industrial area that will benefit both communities is essential for Scottsbluff and Gering to continue progressing economically.
Kaufman says the industrial sites that both communities have now to attract new business don’t provide the tools a larger “business park” would provide.
Kaufman says there is no specific timeline for development of a new industrial park, noting the next step is for the two staffs to get together and move the project forward.
Scottsbluff City Manager Nathan Johnson was in attendance to lend his support although he did not speak before the vote was taken by council members.
