The Gering Council this noon approved two ordinances and a resolution that put in place changes to parking and traffic flow around the new Oregon Trail Park Stadium as the Western Nebraska Pioneers get set to play their inaugural baseball season

The changes include a northbound, one way Overland Trails Road east of the stadium and diagonal parking on both sides of the street as well as parking on grassy areas near Kimball Avenue.

The council also approved a one way, southbound 13th Street in front of the new stadium to accommodate ADA parking and also allow easier traffic flow. That would be done on a trial basis over the summer and then be reviewed by staff and council.

A 15 mile per hour speed limit when patrons are present has also been established on the two roads. No elimination of softball or baseball fields are part of the action taken today.
