The construction of small cottage homes in a section of Gering can now move forward after the city’s Board of Adjustment Tuesday night approved two variances.
The board allowed variances on the size of the living area and the lot size so Gering businessman Kent Ewing can now proceed with construction of two homes at 315 N Street behind his Stagecoach Stop convenience store.
Ewing says the small homes fit the lifestyles of those in their twenties and early thirties and older residents looking to downsize. Ewing says the cottage homes will have foundations and have approximately the same living area as most apartment complexes.
Ewing says the homes will be more attractive than the empty lots which have remained vacant for years.
