Frigid Cold Closes Schools and Cancels Mail Delivery

How cold is it?  So cold that schools are closed.  So cold that the U.S. Postal Service has suspended mail delivery in Nebraska, Iowa and several other states.  So cold that the homeless, seniors and those living in substandard housing need to be protected from the cold.

The National Weather Service has a wind chill warning in effect until noon today and a wind chill advisory from noon  until 9 tomorrow morning.  We can  expect wind chills as low as 40 below zero.

The combination of very cold air and the wind means frostbite can occur quickly and  even hypothermia or death can result if precautions aren’t taken.
