Former Boys Ranch in Panhandle won’t be reopening

The former Nebraska Boys Ranch won’t be reopening to help
troubled boys.

Adult & Teen Challenge of the Midlands acquired the site southeast of Alliance in 2012 after Boys Ranch suspended services its services in March 2010. The organization wanted to place up to 16 boys there for treatment of substance abuse through a Christian-centered program.

The organization’s Bob Larson says in a news release that licensing
complexities and expected operating costs have since forced his organization to focus its efforts on existing adult ministries.

Larson says his organization will be talking to other nonprofit, youth and Christian organizations about the future of the Panhandle property.
