Flash Flood Emergency On Platte Extended

Flash Flood Emergency On Platte Extended
Troopers are monitoring the Loup River and tributaries in Monroe. This is a picture of County Rd 370 Ave (Monroe Rd.) just south of Monroe! The pickup on the roadway is unoccupied, the driver was rescued earlier this morning.

The National Weather Service has extended the flash flood emergency for locations along the Platte River from Schuyler down to Ashland until 4:45 this afternoon.

The surge of floodwaters down the Platte resulted from a recent ice jam breakup on the Loup. Floodwaters could quickly rise 4 to 5 feet along the Platte.

Some of the effected areas include Fremont, Ashland, Valley, North Bend, Yutan, Inglewood, Morse Bluff, Leshara, Rogers, Two Rivers State Recreation Area, Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area, Camp Eagle and Camp Cedars. This includes Interstate 80 in Nebraska between mile markers 428 and 430. You should get to higher ground now.
