The coldest air so far this fall is expected to roll into the region Thursday night into Friday morning bringing the first widespread freeze to the region.
Despite some temperatures dipping into the mid 20’s in spots Wednesday morning, KNEB Meteorologist Don Day says that as we get into the overnight hours Thursday and lose clouds heading into the morning hours Friday, we will see the first widespread freeze across the region.
Day says western Nebraska, eastern Wyoming, and northern Colorado will see temperatures dropping below the freezing mark. Day says how long the temperatures remain low will depend on how soon the clouds move out.
But Day says temperatures will be below freezing long enough to cause some agricultural damage on not only gardens, but on crops that are at the end of their season.
Heading into the weekend temperatures warm up and a nice warn period is forecast for the next ten days.
