Fire Along Missouri River Still Smouldering

No structures were in the way but about 300 acres of brush and trees burned yesterday along the Iowa side of the Missouri River.

Smoke can still be seen lingering in south Omaha.  The Douglas County Health Department  issued a notice today that air quality could affect “sensitive groups” of people.

The fire started south of the Western Trails Museum and  stretched more than 2 miles to the Veterans Memorial Bridge.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
