EWC Vice President tenders resignation

Eastern Wyoming College has announced the resignation of Dr. Donald Appiarius, Vice President for Student Services.

The resignation comes in the wake of a Torrington Police Department investigation into allegations that two employees attempted to cover-up underage drinking on campus. Back in October, EWC issued a media release stating:

Due to serious allegations in Student Services, two employees have been placed on administrative leave for 10 days to allow the College to conduct investigations into the allegations.”

On November 15th, EWC announced that one of the two employees was re-instated, but reassigned. The second employee’s paid administrative leave was extended at that time while the investigation continued.

Today, college officials said that Dr. Appiarius’s resignation was accepted immediately and he will be released from his contract on December 31st, which is six months after he began working at the college.

“Don really cared about the students at Eastern Wyoming College and I wish him well in his future endeavors,” said Dr. Lesley Travers, President.

College officials will assess and then begin the rehire process.
