The West Point City Council approved new electrical rates at Tuesday’s meeting.
“The average rate increase is 6.8 percent across the board but individual rate classes are anywhere from 8.4 percent for residential down to a large general service rate of 6.1 percent,” City Administrator Tom Goulette told KTIC News after the meeting.
Goulette says there are a lot of issues driving rates.
“No one wants a rate increase but if you get too far behind it makes it even more difficult to recover. We have to continue to invest in the system.”
