The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a high speed chase early this morning.
Around 2:30, deputies tried to stop a pickup driving erratically near Highway 35 and East Benjamin Avenue.
They say the driver of the pickup turned off the lights and took off at a high speed.
About four miles later, the pickup entered a north ditch and rolled several times. Both occupants fled on foot.
The driver, 19 year old Seth Thompson of Creston was taken into custody about 30 minutes later hiding among some trees.
The passenger, 19 year old Jesse Schmit of Randolph was located around 5 am at a residence.
The sheriff’s office says its a miracle neither was seriously injured.
