Cheyenne County investigating deaths of Lodgepole man and woman as a homicide

The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the deaths Thursday of a Lodgepole man and woman as a homicide.

Ccounty Coroner Paul Schaub says the Deputies were dispatched during the noon hour Thursday to a report of elder abuse, which led them to a Lodgepole residence at 819 Bondegaard Street. Schaub says deputies knocked on the door, announced their presence and a female voice responded, “Just a minute.”

The deputies then heard a gunshot. They entered the residence and located the deceased, identified as 51 year-old Michelle Lee Marlatt-Arledge and 52 year-old Mark Arledge. Each were in separate rooms. Both had gunshot wounds. The bodies were transported to Scottsbluff for autopsies.

A determination as to the nature of death will be made at a later date.
