Authorities believe a car stolen in rural Morrill County late Friday night was likely taken by the Indiana couple that have been the subject of a multi-day search since one escaped from a jail in North Platte Thursday.

The Morrill County Sheriff’s Department said that at around 11:30 p.m. Friday night they received a report of a stolen vehicle south of Bridgeport. While they can not confirm that the two individuals who have been the subject of a two-day search in the area stole the vehicle, they believe that is the case.

The car, described as a blue 1999 Lincoln Town Car, has a Nebraska license plate, 64-E931. There is no known direction of travel.

The subjects of the search are 42 year old Troy O’Brien and 27 year old Melissa L. Sancillo, both from Gary, Indiana. O’Brien escaped from the Lincoln County Detention Center in North Platte around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities in Lincoln County said that the pair were arrested originally for driving a stolen vehicle from Indiana. Sancillo was released earlier Thursday and O’Brien was just hours away from his scheduled release.

Then, they allege, O’Brien escaped from a work detail and stole a maintenance worker’s vehicle, where he fled with Sancillo. The two were spotted in Bridgeport Thursday night, and authorities attempted to stop the vehicle.

After refusing to stop and driving south on Highway 385, they then drove into a field, and the two took off on foot and have not been seen since. The vehicle that was recovered in the field was the vehicle stolen in North Platte.

Nearly two dozen law enforcement officers from Morrill and Cheyenne county, and the Nebraska State Patrol searched the area for several hours, and even used a patrol airplane to search the area Friday, but did not spot the duo.

Fisher said that surveillance video from a Bridgeport convenience store shows that the two occupants of the vehicle were O’Brien and Sancillo.

O’Brien is a white male, 6’1″, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and khaki pants. Sancillo is a white female, 5’2″, 125 pounds, with blue eyes and dark hair and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt.

If you have seen the two, or the stolen vehicle, please contact authorities immediately.
