Spring arrives two weeks from today. But Old Man Winter isn’t ready to leave.
Tuesday morning, eastern Nebraska and western Iowa commuters dealt with northwest winds from 20 to 45 mph, driving in about 3 inches of snow.
A Winter Weather Advisory had been posted until 6pm Tuesday for the area.
Visibilities began dropping around 7am, causing a large number of area schools to delay or cancel classes and activities.
Highway 275 from West Point to Scribner and Hooper had many areas of white-outs as did Highway 32 and other routes.
Near-blizzard conditions lasted through the morning.
Near Crofton, Nebraska there were about 7 inches of snow on the ground by early Tuesday.
Knox, Cedar and Boyd counties are in a Blizzard Warning , along with southern South Dakota until Tuesday evening.
Commuters on I-80 between Lincoln and Omaha encountered blizzard conditions.
Snow was forecast to taper off Tuesday morning, but blowing and drifting snow may affect travel into Tuesday night.
