Authorities believe Sunday morning fire in Scottsbluff was intentional

Authorities say an early Sunday morning fire at a building in Scottsbluff appears to have been an arson.

In a release from the Scottsbluff Police Department, Sergeant Lance Kite says the investigation continues into the fire that took place at 801 Ferdinand Place. Kite says at this particular time it is believed that the fire was intentional.

County records show that the property is owned by Miller-Bentley Limited Partnership, local Arby’s franchise owners.

Firefighters from the Scottsbluff, Gering and Scotts Bluff Rural Fire Departments responded to the blaze shortly at 2 a.m. Sunday, finding fire in an office and a hallway. Fire officials called the damage to the structure ‘substantial’.

The Scottsbluff Police Department is continuing to conduct interviews of persons that were near the scene at the time of the incident.
