The West Point City Council approved the budget and levy as presented at an earlier workshop.
“We try to do as much as we can with what we have,” said City Administrator Tom Goulette after the meeting. “We try to hold the line and maintain the lid and levy limits. We’re doing very well financially. A lot of that shows in some of the infrastructure and stuff we’re able to invest in to grow the community.”
The city council also approved a 2 1/2 percent adjustment to the employee pay plan. It’s some what based on the cost of living increase.
The council was also updated by NMPP Energy’s Andrew Ross on an electrical rate study that was started about a year ago. They’re looking at roughly a 6.8 percent increase. An official number will be brought back to the council for review in October.
