North Bend Central will hold their annual Veterans Day Program on Monday inside the school’s gymnasium. History Teacher Ken Streff says the program includes a table setting along with music from the band and chorus. “Starts around 10:50 and goes until around 11:25. And in that program the school is kind of involved in different various ways. We have our band that obviously starts with the National Anthem and plays a couple of patriotic pieces. Our chorus then gets to sing a few patriotic songs for our veterans. And of course we recognize our veterans that are present with us, and we also do a MIAPA POW Chair for them. And we have kind of a special presentation this year. We’re going to do a Table Setting for Veterans that they do at their State Banquet.”
Streff says the program also includes the handing out of awards.
He hopes students learn how appreciative veterans are. “I want our students to have an understanding of how passionate our veterans are, not just to the fellow veterans and making sure those veterans that didn’t come home to their families during war time, but they also appreciate just the community supporting them and how much they support our community. And so I really want our students to be able to kind of soak in that and understand that veterans…they don’t just sit in chairs, they just don’t go along with the ceremony, they are so happy that we are involved in the community.”
Streff says a free lunch for Veterans and guests will be served after the program.
Everyone is welcome.
