A new career academy kicks off today in Beemer.  It’s not just West Point Public Schools, it’s 10 schools from around the area that are really interested in how we get kids more opportunities in vocational education type course work, says high school principal DJ Weddle.
“What do we do in areas like business, industrial tech, maybe there are some ag possibilities. How can we enhance those programs? The schools got together and applied for grants and this Thursday we’re starting our first academy career pilot in Beemer with computer science. We have 14 students, 7 from West Point Beemer, said Weddle.
The plan down the road is what can we do with industrial technology as well.
