Nearly 100 members of Legion Riders of Nebraska escorted the remains of Korean POW Milton Beed from Omaha to Norfolk today.
They made a stop in West Point to refuel at the Travel Plaza. A distant relative , Vaughn Beed, was one of the Legion riders taking part.
“Milton Beed was a Korean war vet that died in a Korean POW camp in 1951. His relation to me is his grandfather and my great grand father were actually brothers, the same tree, just a different branch.
The process to identify the remains started five years ago. The family was notified in January that DNA was used to establish the identity of the remains.
Milton Beed’s funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 am at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk with visitation the day before from 4 to 7 PM.
