Autographed items from some of the greatest legends and current superstars of sport will be up for bid at the 28th Annual Sports For Kids Benefit Auction on Saturday evening, February 17th, at the Ralston Arena.

Over 150 incredible items will be sold during the silent and live auctions.   Some of those items include jerseys signed by Mark Messier, Mike Trout, Bill Russell, Julio Jones and Mark Mauer, bats signed by Alex Bregman, Eddie Murray, and Paul Goldschmidt, and a batting helmet signed by Aaron Judge.   The list also includes footballs signed by Archie Manning, Jared Goff, Nick Saban, Dabo Swinney, and Tom Brady, and baseballs from Jeff Bagwell, Evan Longoria, and Chipper Jones.   Framed photos signed by Derek Jeter, Bryce Harper, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax, Jack Nicklaus and Jordan Spieth will also be up for bid, along with 2 all-session tickets to the Big East Men’s Basketball Tournament in New York, 2 days of unlimited golf at Dismal River Club, and full-sized helmets signed by Tom Osborne, John Elway, Brett Favre, and Pittsburgh Steelers greats Jack Ham, Andy Russell, and Jack Lambert.

“We work hard to acquire our items throughout the year, and we challenge ourselves to do better each year,” says auction coordinator Al Vacanti.   “We like to think that people who come back year after year do so to support the mission and to add quality items to their collections.   People who attend for the first time are pretty amazed at what they see, and they tend to come back.   We’re grateful to have all of them join us and share their generosity.”

Founded in Omaha in 1990, the Sports For Kids Foundation has been assisting special needs children in Nebraska, Iowa, and throughout the United States to help them cope with serious illnesses and injuries.   Among the hundreds of gifts provided have been items such as adaptive recreation equipment, hearing aids, medicines, camp experiences, equine therapy sessions, and protective headgear.   The foundation has also assisted with travel costs to help children in rural areas get treatment in medical facilities in larger cities.

Doors and the silent auction open at 5:30 PM, with the live auction set to begin at 7:00 PM.   Admission is $5 for persons 12 and older.   Contact Al Vacanti at the Sports For Kids Foundation at, or by phone at (308) 430-3904 or (402) 664-2255 for more information.   Or visit the Sports For Kids website at or on Facebook at .
