Accident In Stanton County Sends Five To Hospital

On Friday afternoon at about 3:45 p.m. the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a two vehicle accident at the Hwy 275 and Hwy 15 junction to Wayne, which sent five people to the hospital for treatment.

The accident occurred when a car driven by Nyamet Buom Gew, 20, of Mankato, Minnesota turned east into the path of a westbound SUV driven by Rogina Buhrman, 40 of rural Pilger.

Buom Gew and four passengers in her car were taken to FRHS for treatment of minor injuries. Buhrman and her two children declined medical treatment at the scene. Pilger and Wisner Rescue units responded to the accident scene.

Seatbelts were in use and airbags did deploy and are credited with lessening more serious injuries.

The wreckage blocked the eastbound lane of Hwy 275 for about an hour as the scene was investigated and cleared.

Buom Gew’s car ended up in a deep water filled ditch off the highway.
