400 people attend Light of Hope breakfast

Approximately 400 people were at the seventh annual Light of Hope breakfast Thursday morning to benefit the CASA and CAPstone programs.

CAPstone Executive Director Holly Brandt says the breakfast was a huge success, raising an estimated $36,700 for the two agencies that serve children involved in child abuse and neglect cases.

Brandt says she expects the total to increase a little because many times additional donations come in after the breakfast.

Shawna Manley, a CASA volunteer, was the main speaker, sharing with the audience her own story. Lt. Monica Shambaugh with the Nebraska State Patrol also spoke about her work with the two agencies.
