A 57 year old Scottsbluff man has been accused of two counts of sexual assaulting two children under the age of 12.
Christopher Garcia is charged with first and second degree sexual assault of a child, both felonies.
Authorities became aware of the incidents Thursday after one of the victims was showing signs of emotional stress at school and told the principal in a private conversation that the assaults had occurred at her home on a regular basis but had gotten worse in the past week. The victim also said she was afraid to go home because of the assaults.
A forensic interview followed at Capstone where the victim discussed the felony assaults and said Garcia was also assaulting her younger sister. The girls were then placed into state custody and the younger girl later confirmed the assaults on her to Department of Health and Human Services staff.
Garcia told Police he came to Scottsbluff from Mississippi three months ago and denied inappropriately touching the girls before he was taken into custody. He will make his first appearance into Scotts Bluff County Court today.
