Margaret I. Rennerfeldt, age 92, of Oakland, Nebraska passed away Monday, February 5, 2018, at Oakland Heights in Oakland. Memorial service will be on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Oakland. Burial will be at a later date in the Pioneer Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Oakland Heights in Oakland. Pelan Funeral Services in Oakland in charge of arrangements.
Margaret was born February 6, 1925, in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, to Fred and Cora (Lyons) Hovendick. The family moved to rural Herman when Margaret was a young girl and attended Alder Grove United Methodist Church south of Craig, Nebraska. Margaret graduated from Blair High School in 1942 and earned her teaching certificate from Wayne State College.
On registration day at Wayne State, Margaret met Jerry Rennerfeldt. They were married Easter Sunday, April 9, 1944, at the Hovendick family farm five miles west of Herman. Margaret taught country school in Washington County during WWII while Jerry worked at the Martin Bomber Plant in Bellevue, Nebraska. After the war they moved and made their home in Oakland. They were members of the Oakland First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry; two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Margie of Omaha, NE, Evan and Kathy of Oakland, Noel and Margaret of Clarksville, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Robert Anderson of Tekamah, NE; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren.
