Bonnie Voss Goodrich, age 88, of Oakland, Nebraska

Bonnie Voss Goodrich, age 88, of Oakland, Nebraska entered heaven on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at her home in Oakland after a courageous battle fighting lymphoma.  Funeral services will be on Friday, February 16, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland with burial in the Oakland Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Thursday, from 4 – 7 p.m. with family receiving friends at Pelan Funeral Services in Oakland.  Visitation will also be held Friday morning one hour prior to service time at the church.  Memorials to the family for later designation in accordance with Bonnie’s interest and desires.  Pelan Funeral Services in Oakland in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie was born on March 22, 1929 to Samuel and Margaret (Thompson) Beebe in Fremont, Nebraska. Her father’s work moved them throughout the Midwest during her adolescent years. She attended both Hooper High School and Mondamin High School in Iowa her senior year. She attended business school in Omaha.

While living in Omaha, she met Wilbert “Bill” Voss, and they were married February 12, 1949. Their lives together included farming, automobile and insurance businesses. Bonnie worked throughout her life as an administrative assistant at A.Y. McDonald in Sioux City, IBP in Dakota City and as City Clerk of Oakland, before retiring.

Following Wilbert’s death in 1986, she married Harry Goodrich on July 14, 1990. Together they were involved in crafting – Bonnie with her hand-thrown pottery and Harry with woodworking. They traveled extensively during her retirement years. Harry passed away on August 2, 2012.

Bonnie was very involved with the Oakland community and served on numerous boards. She was civic-minded, always working to ensure a person’s good deeds were publicly recognized.

Family and friends were the center of her life. She left her mark on each of us and will be missed by all including Archie Bunker and Trixie, her beloved rescue dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Wilbert and Harry; grandson, Jacob Johnson; stepson, Scott Goodrich; step-grandsons, Travis Goodrich and Andy Stoltenberg.

She is survived by her children, Christie L. (Robert) Beermann of Abilene, TX; Deborah K. Boganowski of Omaha; Jill B. (Mark) Johnson of Oakland; 3 step-children, Sharon Mariska, Stephen Goodrich and Sandra Burch; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren.
