Farm Bureau Pleased with Delay of ACA Employer Mandate
The Obama Administration is delaying the Affordable Care Act requirement that businesses with more than 50 employees provide health insurance to their workers or pay a penalty until 2015. American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stallman says the one-year delay will allow the Administration to streamline the process for complying and provide farm employers with the information they need to follow the law. According to Stallman - many farmers have been confused about their obligations under the healthcare law from the start because they employ a workforce that is both seasonal and transitory. He says the proposed rules regarding what farm employers need to do to comply are complex - raising many questions about responsibility under the law. Stallman says Farm Bureau commends the Administration for addressing the issue and looks forward to simpler direction so farm employers will know what they have to do to comply with the law.
