Norfolk Plans On Adding Airport Hangars
NORFOLK, Neb. (AP) - The City Council has acknowledged that a tax hike will be needed to subsidize new hangars at the Norfolk Regional Airport.
The Norfolk Daily News says the council on Monday learned that $60,000 would be needed for 10 years to help pay off a construction
loan. Members were told that rent for the eight new hangars won't completely cover the loan payments.
In answer to a question, airport manager Terri Wachter says it's common practice for cities to subsidize construction of hangars. Airport authority chairman Dan Geary says the new hangars represent an investment in Norfolk's economic development.
