Reclamation Forecasts Above Average Releases

The Bureau of Reclamation is forecasting spring snowmelt runoff to be above average. As of February first, Area Manager Coleman Smith is forecasting total April - July runoff above Glendo Reservoir to total 875 thousand acre foot or 99 percent of the 30 year average.

Approximately 700 thousand acre foot of runoff is expected to enter Seminole Reservoir with 35 thousand acre foot being provided to Pathfinder Reservoir from the Sweetwater River. The remaining 140 thousand is coming from the basin between Pathfinder and Glendo.

Total Storage as of January 31 is 1.1 million acre foot, 72 percent of the 30 year average. The water in storage for delivery to North Platte project contractors is 239 thousand acre foot or 43 percent of average.

Updated forecasts from the Bureau of Reclamation will be released in March, April and May.
