Democrats Want Food Stamp Cuts Delayed

More than 70 Congressional Democrats are asking Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack to delay the new law cutting food stamps. According to a letter signed by the lawmakers - the states need time to adjust their policies to accommodate the cut made to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in the farm bill and roll out the changes seamlessly. New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is leading the charge - asking lawmakers to sign off on the letter asking Vilsack to delay the provision that cuts eight-billion dollars in food stamp aid until next fall.
