Scotts Bluff County man dies in rollover accident
A Scotts Bluff County man died Wednesday night in a rollover accident near Minatare just before 6 p.m.
Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman says 20 year old James Booth died when he lost control of the westbound vehicle he was driving on the Burlington Northern Road near County Road 31. Overman says the vehicle rolled several times, coming to rest in the south ditch. 26 year old Elijah Reagan, a passenger in the car, told officers he was not ejected but Booth was. Reagan said he found Booth unresponsive and laying on the railroad tracks.
Overman says the Minatare rescue unit transported Booth to Regional West Medical Center and Reagan was taken to the hospital by the Air Link helicopter. Booth was declared dead at the hospital shortly after 6:30 p.m. Reagan is listed in serious condition at the hospital.
Overman says speed and alcohol may have been a factor in the accident and Deputy County Attorney Mark Berton has ordered an autopsy on Booth.
