Firefighters battle grain elevator blaze in Scribner
SCRIBNER, Neb. (AP) Firefighters from at least three departments battle a fire at Scribner Grain in eastern Nebraska. The Fremont Tribune reports that the fire was reported shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday. Someone called authorities to report smoke coming from the facility along U.S. Highway 275 on the south edge of downtown Scribner.
The newspaper reports that by 9 a.m., much of the fire had been knocked down by firefighters from Scribner, Snyder and Hooper. Heavy equipment was brought in to push over portions of the facility, which appeared to be a total loss.
