Wayne State College administrator critically injured in tornado
An administrator at Wayne State College was critically injured in the powerful tornado that struck the Wayne area Friday night.
According to the college, John Dunning, WSC's chief information officer, was severely injured by flying debris when taking shelter outside of his vehicle off Highway 35 during the tornado.
Dunning underwent multiple surgeries overnight, and the college said Saturday night that he is in a "medically induced coma" and on a ventilator.
Dunning's wife told the college that "he has countless, complex injuries," but doctors say "he will recover."
Dunning has been the chief information officer for the college since 2011.
