2nd Progressive Ag Safety Day in Mitchell
Keeping our youth safe is the mission of the Progressive Agriculture Foundation - North America's largest rural safety and health education program. For the second year, Betaseed is sponsoring an Agriculture Safety Day in Mitchell. The hands-on educational program will be offered on Thursday, September 26th at the Scotts Bluff County Fairgrounds in Mitchell.
In a interview with KNEB/Rural Radio Network, Event Coordinator and Betaseed Sales Manager John Dillman says the event will be offered to area youth. The program is being offered to 150 youth from Community Christian, St. Agnes and Mitchell Schools.
Youth will learn about all aspects of safety through 12 stations covering a wide variety of dangers. Volunteers will teach students how to be safe around fire, electricity, irrigation canals, grain bins, lawnmowers, among others.
Each participant received bicycle helmet, water bottle, a hat and safety information. Dillman says that is only possible with the generous support from the community. He says sponsorship is still needed to cover the cost of the bicycle helmets.
