NFU Supports Initiatives Announced by USDA

National Farmers Union is applauding the administration's effort to directly engage agricultural producers on solutions to addressing climate change through the establishment of regional climate hubs, new Natural Resources Conservation Service climate adaptation tools for farmers and the creation of uniform crop cover guidelines. With changing weather patterns leading to new threats such as floods, wildfires, the introduction of new pests and invasive species - NFU President Roger Johnson says it's crucial that the link between producers and USDA remain strong so farmers and ranchers have access to the best available information when making decisions on their land. NFU has long believed climate change is a significant threat to American agriculture and that more must be done to mitigate and adapt to the effects.
