Westco and Mobius Challenge Community to 'Raise The Roof'

The Box Butte County Fair in Hemingford is about two months away (August 4-11), which will include the fair's first-time use of the new livestock pavilion. Fundraising for the new home of 4-H and FFA beef, sheep, swine, goats, and dairy cattle began over three years ago, with well over $300,000 pledged or donated to date. However, there is still a need of over $100,000 to completely pay off the debt.

WESTCO, based in Alliance, and Mobius of Hemingford and Alliance, are hoping to see the bill paid in full by the time the building is dedicated this August.

WESTCO CEO David Briggs says the two entities will jointly donate up to $30,000 to match other contributions. Briggs says he hopes the joint effort from Mobius and WESTCO encourages those who haven't already donated, to do so.

Mobius General Manager Tonya Mayer (Mair) says she has observed several young people donate money they received from last year's county fair livestock auction, and she hopes adults will follow their lead.

Checks should be made to Raise the Roof and sent to the Box Butte County Extension Office at 415 Black Hills in Alliance.
