Creighton Shut Out In Big East Championship Game

(Brooklyn) - Trent Astle pitched a complete-game three-hit shutout as Xavier defeated Creighton 5-0 in the Big East baseball championship game on Sunday afternoon.

Astle walked one, struck out two and threw 128 pitches in the win, giving Xavier the league's automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament.

A Creighton error gave the Musketeers the game's first run in the third inning, Xavier added one more in the inning on Daniel Rizzie's sacrifice fly.

Xavier would add one more in the fourth on Joe Forney's RBI single.

The Musketeers added two runs in the fifth on Stephen Schoettmer's two-run single.
