Stray Bullet In North Omaha Leaves Five-Year-Old Dead
Authorities are at the scene of 45th and Bedford Avenue in Omaha where a five-year-old girl was hit by a stray bullet while eating breakfast inside her home.
Media reports say Payton Benson was finishing breakfast around 9:45 this morning when a bullet fired outside by someone in a car at another person running near 45th and Pinkney, went through the wall of the house, striking the young girl.
She was taken to an Omaha hospital where she later died.
Police were searching for three suspects who fled in a black or blue Jeep Liberty. As many as 20 shots were fired.
KETV reports the father of the girl is City Councilman Ben Gray's nephew.
