Rural Beemer Family Loses Home To Fire
An early morning house fire chased the Phillip Martin family into the cold Tuesday morning.
Around 2 or 3 in the morning, the family - Phil, Holly and their son- awoke to the fire and made it out safely. Their acreage is located about 4 miles northeast of Beemer.
Friends say Phil works in Norfolk. Holly works at St. Francis Hospital and Bracht attends West Point-Beemer schools.
Beemer Fire Chief Leroy Mostek says the fire started inside a wall and worked its way up into the attic.
The Wisner fire department was also called in to help battle the fire, providing water and air tanks. Mostek says the cold weather made it difficult to fight the fire. More than two dozen fire fighters were on the scene.
Mostek says the house suffered significant damage making it unlivable.
A Martin Family Fund has been set up at the First Community Bank in Beemer to help the family out with donations. Items can also be dropped off at the bank for the family.
