Stanton County District Court Sentences Battle Creek Man For Theft

A 48 year old Battle Creek man was sentenced to a prison term of 24 to 36 months this week in Stanton County District Court for his involvement in the theft of two trailers in Stanton back in May.

Kevin Mendenhall had been arrested shortly after the thefts along with Mark Kuehn, of Stanton, who is serving an 11 year sentence for his involvement. A third co-defendant in the case, 62 year old Ernie Mastny of Stanton is awaiting trial on his alleged involvement.

Also in a separate theft case, two men from the West Point area entered a plea of guilty to theft charges in their involvement of a rural break in south of Pilger in 2012.

Casey Burger of Snyder and Aaron Ellinghausen of West Point entered guilty pleas and will be sentenced in April. Both men, along with two other defendants still awaiting trial, were arrested by the Stanton County Sheriff's Office following an investigation into the theft of items from a rural farm on several occasions.
