Yori Fighting Infection During Collapse At Game
A Nebraska athletic department spokesman says women's basketball coach Connie Yori was fighting an infection and was dehydrated when she collapsed during the Cornhuskers' game against Indiana on Sunday.
Yori is scheduled to meet with the media today. The coach collapsed in front of the Nebraska bench with about 12 minutes left in Sunday's game.
In a released statement, Nebraska athletic department officials said Yori experienced dizziness and fell to the floor on the sideline at Pinnacle Bank Arena during the second period of the Cornhuskers' 76-61 Sunday victory over Indiana.
After a few moments on the floor, Yori was helped to her feet and walked off the court under her own power.
The school said she was taken to the Nebraska locker room where she was evaluated by Cornhusker medical staff and then transported to a Lincoln, Neb., hospital for further evaluation as a precautionary measure.
Associate head coach Sunny Smallwood took over behind the bench for the final 11:43 of the game against the Hoosiers.
