Huskers lose sand volleyball opener

Chula Vista, Calif. - The No. 9 Nebraska sand volleyball team completed the first match in school history on Friday afternoon as the Huskers fell to No. 4 Florida State 4-1 at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center.


Nebraska's No. 1 tandem of Kelsey Robinson and Alexa Strange recorded the first match victory for Nebraska, edging Florida State's Fatma Yildirim and Aurora Davis 19-21, 21-19, 15-7.


Hayley Thramer and Amber Rolfzen fell to Katherine Plessy and Melanie Pavels 18-21, 22-20, 12-15. Kadie Rolfzen and Morgan Broekhuis dropped two sets to Jace Pardon and Marija Milosavljevic 17-21, 16-21.


Cecilia Hall and Kelsey Fien dropped their dual to Sarah Wickstrom and Mallory Kiley 13-21 in both sets, while Kristina Pellitteri and Stephanie Pellitteri defeated Alicia Ostrander and Sheridan Zarda 12-21 and 15-21.


The Huskers will take on No. 1 Pepperdine this evening at 5 p.m. CT.
