WP School Board Okays Track Repair And Purchase Of School Bus; Baseball Co-Op Includes Dissolution Clause

The West Point-Beemer school board voted Monday night to put a dissolution clause in the two-year baseball cooperative agreement with Pender and Bancroft/Rosalie. That means after one year, West Point can get out of the co-op or other schools can be added.

The school board also voted to have the school track repaired at a cost of nearly $36,500. Five years ago, the latex track underwent $250-thousand of work. But every three years or so, it will need to have the cracks repaired. They'll also overlay the surface and restripe it as well as add the Cadet logo.

The board voted to purchase a 2012 passenger bus for $70-thousand and scrap out the 1991 bus that is in need of numerous repairs. That gives the school district six school buses.

The superintendent's contract was also extended through 2015-16.
