Walthill Man Found Guilty In Deadly Crash

A jury has found 20 year old Miguel Tapia of Walthill, guilty of killing a Macy woman on her 20th birthday in a drunk driving accident last November.

Princess Morris of Macy was a passenger in a pickup driven by Tapia that rolled into a ditch on a gravel road.

The defense had claimed that a drunk Morris was the one driving the pickup.

Family members of the two got into a verbal fight after the verdict was read.

Tapia was found guilty of felony vehicular homicide and misdemeanor drunken driving – second offense.

The accident happened on County Road I near Walthill on Nov. 23. Tapia wasn't hurt.

His trial began Tuesday in Thurston County District Court in Pender. He will be sentenced Aug. 13th.
